Make A Pipe Cleaner Stick Figure
Here are some ideas on creating real stick figures that can play with you even when the internet is down!
No more of the 2D ink and paper nonsense - these pipe-cleaner creations can start to take over your house.
Ideal for children or very silly adults - a stick man friend is only a few moments away. That is assuming you already have some pipe-cleaners.
This short page contains bending and twisting ideas that might help you create some stickmen characters and have fun while doing it.
The graphic shows our stickman trying to figure out how to twist a couple of pipe cleaners together.

Here are a couple of examples of the finished stick figure.
If you don't have pipe cleaners in the house then order some from Amazon and await the precious day, probably tomorrow, when they arrive.
Let's do some bending for fun and make our own real-life stick man!

Two Types of Stick Figure
In the opening picture there are two figures sat on my screen. The yellow guy is made from a single pipe-cleaner and the black fellow from one and a half pieces.
They are both sat on my screen because I had some difficulty standing them up. That is a problem to overcome at a later stage. For now, this page is about the simple design suggestion.
The picture below shows the basic steps for using a single pipe-cleaner to create a simple stick figure.

Pipe-Cleaner 3D Stickman - Advanced
The basic figure is great for simplicity. If you only have one pipe-cleaner he is probably the best you can do.
The more advanced stage requires two pipe-cleaners and a pair of scissors. It is not rocket science to be honest.
Cut one of the pipe-cleaners in half and put to one side. That will make his arms in a minute.
Use the previous instructions for the basic figure - head shape, body and legs - but do not make the arms at this stage.
Take the half length pipe-cleaner and use to create the stickman arms. Twist onto the body near the head to join on. It is shown in red on the diagram below.
Arrange the figures in whatever pose you feel like trying.

Pipe Cleaner Dog or Cat
If you review the basic stickman creation - you will see how he is made from a single pipe-cleaner.
The dog (or cat) shown in the pictures is the same technique with a couple of small differences.
Apologies for the photos being a bit blurry.

The head has an extra bend to allow for an ear.
The rear legs - or legs in the case of the stick man - are also bent in two like the arms.
That means that a little pipe-cleaner can be left over to make a tail.
I have decided now he is a dog with a short tail. Cats have much longer tails!

More Pipe-Cleaner Fun!
I have been drawing stick figures for years. It took me five minutes to make my first 'real' one.
Now I am thinking about cats and dogs and perhaps some epic 3D scene based on real events or a movie.
I have a feeling this could be a whole lot of fun if you are into art, creativity and a little humor. Or maybe keeping the kids quiet for a while.
Remember pipe cleaners have sharp wire bits so a bit more careful bending and safety instructions might be required.
Have fun!
