Brexit Puns
A page of Brexit puns and comment written by someone who dares to admit they voted for Brexit. A vote against globalism and for a more local democracy. I prefer the lying corrupt officials who control my life to live in the same country as me.
At least then we are all in the same boat, even if they do get the whole of the top deck and the first class cabins.
Anyhow, here is some Brexit humor and comment.

Introduction
Update: Britain officially left the EU at 11pm on the 31st January 2020. The 11pm time was a final European sting - being the time in Germany rather than London.
The rest of this page was mostly written prior to leaving. It all seems such a long time ago that we voted to leave.
..
On Thursday 23rd June 2016 a small majority of the UK voted to leave the EU in an historic referendum.
It was made clear at the time that it was a simple in-out choice.
As time has dragged on the picture becomes less clear. Brexit seems likely to go on forever or be cancelled as politicians play games.
It may be they will repeat the vote until the British public provide the correct answer. Or the final version of Brexit will be business as usual but with some degree of punishment for voting the wrong way.
I put off creating a Brexit Pun page for two years naively thinking it would be all over by now. Although the likelihood always was the fix would be in.
When you consider that whatever happens will be of little consequence and a lot of people couldn't give a flying fig about political games - the vehemence of the commentary is staggering.
Let's pour some fuel on the fire.
First some puns.

Puns
Brextra Time - the extra time required to achieve precisely nothing
Brexitosis - when every time a politician opens their mouth something stinks
Brexmas - when all your wishes come true
Brexorcist - the nightmare continues
Brextension - when two and a half years isn't enough time to implement a referendum result. Also Flextension, Flexit, etc.
Brexodus - movement of the people - assuming all necessary visas in place
Bed and Brexit
Dog's Brexit
Full English Brexit
Brexshit - when it hits the fan
Prorogue State - newspaper headlines when Boris played his Queen in the Brexit game of chess. As it turned out the UK Supreme Court played their Queen too.
Surrender Bill - "that'll be 39 billion pounds please"

Alternative Brexit Solution
It is clear after all this time that the country remains divided. Roughly half want to leave and half remain. There is no solution possible that suits everyone or even half the country. Attitudes are hardening on both sides with a disappearance of any middle-ground compromise.
As this is a British Brexit it requires a British spirit of fair play. An acceptance that we are effectively tied in a stalemate.
Most people want this to be over. The longing for it to be finished may outweigh the actual result. Poor people will continue to be poor and the elite and rich will continue to prosper whichever way it goes.
In my opinion the best way to quickly resolve Brexit and briefly shut up the politicians, media, power brokers and celebrities is to have a simple coin toss.
Heads we leave, tails we don't. The Speaker tosses the coin in Parliament and cameras record the result. No best of 3 or recounts - a coin toss for a generation (25 years minimum).
Then we could get back to a more normal level of lies and duplicity from our corrupt political system.

Boris Johnson
Boris Johnson was the most high-profile supporter of Brexit in the UK. With the help of Dominic Cummings he formulated a message, Get Brexit Done, that swept him into office with a huge parliamentary majority.
Since then it has been rapidly downhill. Covid happened. Dominic left. Brexit is a mixed bag of nothing, as it was always destined to be.
The final nail for some Boris supporters may be the September 2021 announcement of further tax rises. In theory to pay for social care, they hit workers and pensioners alike.
The tax rises in 2021 take the UK tax burden to its highest percentage for many years. Not what people expect from a Tory government.
For Boris this matters. Mostly people know he is a chancer, a liar with flexible principles but an old-school charmer. We accept his lies as long as he delivers. He sort of delivered Brexit, in name only.
But no one votes for increased taxes.

Boris Resigns
On 7th July 2022 Boris Johnson resigned. In the face of overwhelming opposition from his own Tory Party he was left with no alternatives.
The popular reasons given for his demise are based around fairly minor scandals and his evasiveness when asked about them. Nothing near the scale of invading Iraq for example. It is likely that in the end the WEF and anti Brexit brigade finally got their man.
Boris had set the ball rolling for a renegotiation of the unworkable Northern Ireland agreement. Within weeks he was gone.
Boris had many faults but he gave the UK people a chance to believe their vote counted for something. As the global grip reaches around the neck of individual country's democracy that may be the last chance we get.
I will not be voting again. For anything. Worthless puppets the lot of them.

Brexit
The UK government foolishly allowed people to vote on remaining in or leaving the European super state.
Despite endless attempts to tell people the right way to vote - a large number of ordinary Britains decided to leave.
They won the right to self-determination, to slow the impact of globalisation, to reduce the numbers of low-paid imported workers.
Or so they thought.
The reality is that the rich globalists will continue to make money and nothing much will change for the Brexit voters apart from some kind of collective punishment for wrong thinking.
As the Brexit process slowly crawled along it gave me plenty of time to think about it and produce some designs.

Brexit Name Calling
The best way to conduct civilised political debate is by calling people names.
Brexidiot - a combination of two words - guess what they are.
Brexiteer - attempt to smear someone as ideologically believing in Brexit.
Chlorinated Chicken - Boris Johnson describing Corbyn during first PMQs
Gammon - red-faced white Englishman - the most hated person in the world.
Populist - anyone who has a message which appeals to the voters which is apparently a very bad thing.
Remainer - someone who voted that way.
Snowflake - tired insult aimed at millenials who are trying to find their way as the oldies did a generation previously.
Wrexiteer - a reasonably neat slur for Brexiteers

David Cameron
David Cameron was the UK Prime Minister who tried to settle the Brexit debate once and for all by holding a referendum.
Obviously he (and they) expected to win the Remain vote easily, or they would not have held it. With the media, government and business officials on their side plus the murkier efforts of GCHQ they would surely walk it.
Despite that confidence he ended up losing the vote.
At that point, with an emotive vote splitting the country, and in need of a steady hand at the tiller, what does he do?
He resigns. Yah boo sucks to us as the old Etonian pig-shagger would say.
He was subsequently involved in rather seedy business matters, unbecoming of anyone, let alone a former Prime Minister. Fortunately he was cleared of all wrongdoing.
David Cameron is now the UK's Foreign Secretary. He is no longer a sitting MP, Brexit having been the last vote anyone threw for him, or at him. In order for him to become Foreign Secretary he had to be made an emergency Lord.
Our UK democracy is finished. It is now completely corrupt and they laugh in our faces.

Expressions
Beyond Brexit - a future after Brexit when life returns to normal
Brexit Means Brexit - Theresa May continually repeats this self-cloaking protective soundbite
BRINO - Brexit in Name Only - where politicians and civil servants use words and duplicity to fool the voting public
Exit Brexit - slightly sad attempt to create a cool catch phrase for millennial Remainers
Peoples Vote - millionaires set up scheme to deprive the original voters of their referendum result. Most people promoting a "Peoples Vote" despise Populism
Project Fear - every day the BBC runs one or more prominent Brexit scare stories on its main pages. Anti-Brexit politicians spout the same words - reckless, cliff edge, end of the world - at every opportunity. This 24/7 scare-mongering has had very little effect on the Brexit voters who seem to think when they voted Leave in 2016 - we should actually leave.

Film
There are no Brexit films worth mentioning yet. Perhaps one day they will Hollywood it up into an exciting drama with action heroes shooting Brexiteers as they attempt to vote in a minor by-election.
In happier times a Carry On Brexit would be a perfect vehicle for lightweight satire and safe innuendo.
But not the endless tedious middle-class sneering pumped out by the media against the 17.4 million who thought they had the right to an opinion when offered one in the Brexit Referendum.

Frexit - French Brexit
The French version of Brexit.
The image shows a stickman with a French flag running across a tattered EU flag laying on the ground.
It is supposed to indicate patriotic pride over European statehood.
A large number of people across Europe would prefer their country to take precedent over the European super state idea.
The Europe project started as a free trade area but has expanded into a more state like creation. It added another layer of corrupt politicians and globalists over the ones we already had.

Grexit - Greek Brexit
Don't worry, I didn't draw every EU country wanting to leave Europe. At least not yet.
Greece deserves a special mention in the collection of European countries that have been treated badly by the grand coalition of Europe.
The punitive austerity measures imposed by Brussels as the cost and punishment of remaining part of Europe must seem unfair to many Greeks.
On top of the financial measures they are also in the firing line as a destination point for many incoming African migrants - a consequence of Merkel's open door policy and French colonial aggression in Libya against Gaddafi.

Italexit - Italian Brexit
Same old story as every European country that is not at the top level of European success or handouts.
Italy, a fantastic country with a wealth of good food, weather, history, art and architecture is mired deep in the European project.
Would any of these countries be better off outside Europe?
Economic success is not the only measure required for a simple in out question. Returning law and control to your own governments means democracy takes a step closer to the inhabitants.
It is an argument being made all over Europe.
In 2018 two populist parties formed a coalition. Their choice of finance minister was rejected by the Italian President who decided he was not pro European enough. Instead he appointed an ex IMF member.
This is a total rejection of the people's vote and democracy in favor of the European State which becomes more frightening by the day.

Media Bias
We all know the various media - traditional, print, TV, online - are biased. Most times this bias is ignored in favour of grabbing a few facts and largely continuing life without paying too much attention.
In an issue which grips a nation a truthful media becomes more important. Sadly - pretty much every outlet, commentator, rent-an-opinion, celebrity or other speaker brings a slanted view of the facts filtered through their own bias. There simply is no truth available in any place.
I cannot be the only person who skips the editorial and browses the comment section to see what people think. Hopefully finding a few comments that aren't bots or paid for commentators.
There is a special place in my heart for the BBC. Under the guise of even-handed factual news reporting it promotes a misleading stream of 'liberal' bias. There are many examples daily - here is one. On the day after the Election is announced the second top story is a 70 billion pound hit to UK finances caused by the Boris deal. All nonsense of course but it is the web site headline that does the damage - no one having time to read stories anymore.

Nexit - Dutch Exit
In 2023 the Brexit impact is still reverberating across Europe.
The Dutch have elected 'far-right' politician Geert Wilders as their next PM. Whether he manages to put a coalition together remains to be seen. Politics is all smoke, mirrors and corruption anyhow.
It does mean the word Nexit is being talked about. The possibility of a referendum on a Netherlands exit from the European project.
We Brexiteers can nod wisely, and a little sadly, and say good luck with that.

People Involved in Brexit
John Bercow - Speaker of the House of Commons. Has proven nobody is completely impartial.
Adam Boulton - classic attack interviewer who talks over and interrupts guests whose politics his masters do not agree with.
Tony Blair - believes in a Peoples Vote. He also believed in WMD and illegal war on Iraq.
Richard Branson - tax-avoiding island-owning Remain supporter
Alistair Campbell - author of the Iraq dodgy dossier. Wheeled out by media companies to slag off Brexit, Corbyn, Farage as required.
Mark Carney - Canadian Bank of England head who predicts Brexit calamity at every opportunity
Dominic Cummings - highly rated political strategist drafted in to Team Boris
Jeremy Corbyn - seldom has an opposition leader squandered so badly chances to make an impact. Not all his fault - the back-stabbing Labour party behind him doesn't help.
Juncker the Drunker - leader of the EU gravy train
Nigel Farage - Brexit referendum and subsequent EU 2019 victory were staggering victories for his popular message
Bob Geldof - Irish singer who sailed up the Thames to mock the working class
Michael Gove - a morally flexible turncoat and charlatan
Philip Hammond - Chancellor who provides a constant Project Fear message
Jeremy Hunt - Tory leadership contender whose main claim to fame is the frequency of announcers beginning his surname with a "C".
Boris Johnson - unprincipled popular charmer who says leaving EU by October 2019 is 'eminently feasible' - let's see
Caroline Lucas - Green Party Leader - disappointing to see her playing Remain Politics when the Greens should keep away from political garbage. Save animals and the planet - not red-faced lying buffoons in Parliament.
Theresa May - charisma free socially awkward bot who cannot face the public except in tightly controlled conditions - she bottled the Election TV debate and avoided the victims of Grenfell tower
Angela Merkin - German leader currently on her fourth term.
Emmanuel Micron - tiny man with delusions of popularity
Jacob Rees Mogg - upper class privileged toff who has done more for the Leave voters than their usual political representatives
Barack Obama - came over to England to tell people how to vote
Tommy Robinson - speaks for a section of the population that no one else represents. Banned by social media because free speech only goes so far.
Rory Stewart - briefly a surprise contender in the Tory leadership race. Pumped up by the media who welcomed a puppet remainer - the Daily Mail describing him in one colorful piece as a Lawrence of Arabia. To which a wag in the comments section responded more like Florence of Belgravia.
Jo Swinson - freshly elected Liberal Party Leader trying to punch too far above her weight. Some people voted Liberal recently due to their avowedly Remain stance. Once Brexit is over - so are the Liberals.
Donald Trump - because no media page is complete without a mention even though Brexit may not be his fault
ed: correction - it is always Trump's fault
Chuka Umunna - ex-Labour politician who frequently opposed and undermined Jeremy Corbyn - the Labour leader. He left Labour to form Change UK or Independence for Change (whatever) - a new party that was going to challenge the old order. After a catastrophic poor Euro election performance he left to join the Liberals. The Liberal party moved him to a safer seat for the election so he has a greater chance of winning. During this entire period the people who originally voted Labour in Chukka's constituency have had no representation. A first-class weasel who typifies career before duty behaviour.

People Power
Perhaps one of the biggest lessons of Brexit was the ability of ordinary people to see past the lies and corruption of the new world order and its globalist politicians.
For years the rise of globalism had proceeded unchecked. The subversion of democracy to the elites beholden to no particular creed or country. Secure in the knowledge that no matter what the voters thought they might like - the combination of media control and censorship would thwart any potential opposition to their view of a single world government.
Brexit briefly showed the power that ordinary people have. If they can see past the lies, aided by leaders they can briefly trust, there is a chance to effect real grassroots change. The problem is continuing that change.
The fight goes on.

People's Vote
The idea is to have a second referendum to validate any Brexit deal and see what the public now wants. The purpose is to undermine the original democratic vote and cancel Brexit.
The ideal ballot paper from the Remain camp would be to Remain, Leave with a Deal or Leave without a deal. That would split the Brexit vote and ensure Remain won the day.
But Remain is not the end of the story. It sounds comforting - everything stays the same - but it is entirely misleading.
Remain would mean signing up to the next steps in the United States of Europe project. Centralisation of budgets and a European Army being two of the more anticipated. More power to Brussels and less for the Sovereign Nations.
If a second referendum is ever called - expect a huge battle over the wording on the ballot.

Politicians
The political system has been exposed like never before thanks to Brexit. Of particular note are the following.
Politicians who quit a party in order to become Independent or form / join a different party. There should be an immediate local election in that seat to enable democracy to remain in the hands of the voters who tend to vote for parties not personalities.
Despite a comparatively large number of movements by career before duty politicians - none has opted to face the ballot box.
Politicians who do not represent the views of their constituents. In a simple case of an in / out referendum one would expect your local political representative to follow the majority vote of their people. Many do not.

Queues
During the 2016 referendum - then President Obama said if Brexit happened Britain would be at the back of the queue.
In 2019 President Trump said Britain would be at the front.
Who else is in the queue is not clear.

Updates
These updates and this page are now long out of date. They give a small taste of events at one point in the never-ending Brexit saga.
Brexit was exciting for a while and then it became apparent it was never really going to happen.
23rd May 2019 - EU Elections. Brexit Party tipped for success with a Tory Party wipeout.
24th May 2019 - May quits before she is pushed. She succeeded in delaying and possibly destroying Brexit since the vote to leave nearly three years ago. So a job well done. The UK can now look forward to the next weaselly turncoat to thwart the will of the British people expressed in the Referendum.
26th May 2019 - the EU polls were more or less right. Farage scored huge success. Liberals won big based on their Remain stance. Labour and Tory voters disappeared.
27th May 2019 - The Tory contenders for next PM now try to sound like committed Brexiteers
4th June 2019 - Change UK party splits into Independents and Anna Soubry rump
6th June 2019 - Peterborough by-election - close hold for Labour above Brexit Party with Tories in distant third
24th July 2019 - Boris Johnson becomes UK PM. He has 100 days to deliver Brexit. Or do something else.
28th August 2019 - Boris plays a masterstroke. Using Queen's Speech to prorogue Parliament gaining a few extra days free from House of Commons whittering. If it fails he can call an election - and the chances are he (with Farage's help) will walk it. It feels like Brexit could actually happen.
4th September 2019 - Remainer majority in House of Commons forces a new delay to Brexit leaving Johnson Government stuck in limbo with Opposition unwilling to call an election.
24th September 2019 - Supreme Court rules prorogation of Parliament was unlawful. The pointless talking head ego filled undemocratic politicians will be returning to ensure Brexit is delayed for ever.
28th October 2019 - EU agree a 'flextension' to 31st January 2020. Another three months for the UK to change their minds and give up on the original referendum.
29th October 2019 - Parliament finally allows Boris the chance of a General Election. Expect many Portillo moments on the night of 12th December 2019. It took the politicians a full day in Parliament to make a simple Yes / No decision.
12th December 2019 - Boris and his Get Brexit Done message secure a huge victory for the Conservatives. Once again the people who support leaving spoke with a single clear voice.
31st January 2020 - The UK leaves the EU. It was that simple all along. Now just a few loose ends like trade deals, free movement, legislation, security - etc. But for most people it is now finally over.
Except, as we now know, it was never over.

End
Will the Brexit saga ever end? One angle seems to be to bore people into submission.
In common with the Brexit process this page has been a bit of a loss. Normally these pun pages contain some songs, films and expressions to bulk out the content. Maybe the word lends itself to fun punning with opportunity for some snarky comment.
Brexit is a bit dull. Not Brexciting at all.
The big takeaway from this appalling saga has been the unveiling of the sham of democracy. A public referendum thwarted by politicians, business and power-brokers.
Politics is always lies and deception - but the gap between people and power has been laid bare by the Brexit quagmire.
So we can at least thank it for that.
